Trezor Wallet Setup — Trezor.io/start with Ledger®

Concise, secure step-by-step presentation for setting up your Trezor hardware wallet (and notes for Ledger users). Includes best practices, important links, and quick troubleshooting.

Introduction

What this guide covers

This short presentation walks you through powering up, initializing, and securing a Trezor device using the official start portal. It also highlights where Ledger users can find equivalent resources. Follow official links and never share seed words or private keys.

Audience

New Trezor owners, users migrating from a software wallet, or Ledger users seeking cross-reference steps.

Step 1 — Prepare

Unbox & verify

Inspect your Trezor packaging for tamper-evident seals. Always start at the official setup page to avoid scams.

Ledger users

If you have a Ledger device, visit ledger.com/start for the official onboarding steps and Ledger Live app download.

Step 2 — Initialize securely

Create a new wallet or recover

Follow on-screen prompts to either create a new wallet or recover from an existing seed. Write your recovery seed on the provided card, offline — never on a digital file or photo.

Important: Trezor will never ask for your seed over email, chat, or phone. Treat your recovery phrase as the single point of control.

Step 3 — Install Trezor Suite

Download official software

Use the official suite for firmware updates and portfolio management: suite.trezor.io. Ledger users will instead use Ledger Live.

Keep firmware up to date

Only install firmware through Trezor Suite — firmware updates include critical security fixes.

Step 4 — Security best practices

Protect your recovery phrase

Avoid common pitfalls

Never enter your recovery phrase on websites or apps. Beware of phishing domains and fake support accounts.

Troubleshooting & support

Where to get official help

Use official support portals and knowledge bases for troubleshooting and firmware questions.
